Melissa Aldana was born on December 4th, 1988. Very young, when she was 7 years old, she started music studies and saxophone with her father, Marcos Aldana. The matter of having his father with private students surrounding all day was perfect to get the likeness for the instrument and the music itself. In a short term she developed an incredible technique that allowed her to participate in the international contest "Bravo Bravissimo", getting the first place. She also participated in a Miami TV show contest "Quiero Ser Una Estrella", and among several young people of all around the world she got the first place. Also appearances in Milan (Italy). With all this happening in her short life, she started to improve more and more the technique and musical issues, being able to enter the Jazz scene in Chile, gaining a huge respect among jazz colleagues. On May 2006 she was invited to perform live with Randy Brecker, having two presentations in Chile. On 2006 she had the chance to meet the great Danilo Perez, who lately invited her to perform in the Panama Jazz Festival and then she when to Boston, to audition in either Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory. Melissa was granted with the Berklee Presidential Scholarship, being able to study in the prestigious Berklee College of Music, institution where she is enrolled since January 2007.
Melissa have a Group with Michael Palma, and they will record the first album in Febrery 2009.
