Kathleen Jones

This great clarinetist holds a Bachelor degree in Music from the University of Southern California, with Mitchell Lurie, with whom she also worked for two summers at the Music Academy of the West. Her Master’s degree in Music is from Northwestern University, where she was a student of Robert Marcellus.

She has been a clarinet professor at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico and the principal clarinetist of the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra since 1975; also, she is a founding member of the chamber group Camerata Caribe, in residence at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico since 1982.

Ms. Jones was featured as soloist with the Knoxville Symphony at Clarinet Fest 2019, playing the world premiere of Alberto Guidobaldi’s Concertino for Clarinet and Chamber Orchestra.  She has recordings available of other Puerto Rican works on her CD Caribe Clarinete, and recorded the Voxman Etudes for student use.
